CSC has engaged in interior upfit projects for extensive projects across dozens of biotechnology facilities across the southeast. Our team has navigated the unique challenges of clean room environments, walkable ceilings, equipment support platforms and framing, catwalks, cold-rooms, and chemical reactivity or sterilization requirements for materials. CSC has performed projects with vibration controls, blast valve restraints as preventative measures, and sophisticated dust collection system to counter explosive risks were incorporated into the structural design. One specific confidential client requested a clean room with platforms and walkable ceilings. This project required meticulous attention to detail to maintain sealed rooms, even during light bulb changes and mechanical unit servicing. Design considerations also extended to biohazard containment, demanding an in-depth understanding of owner needs in non-standard environments. For other projects, the work environment itself posed challenges, with visits requiring respirators and double-layer hazmat suits due to the presence of biohazards. Sometimes, evaluating the existing space can involve operating with limited equipment, and being restricted to pencil and tape measure due to the sensitive nature of the space. Each location presented specific and often novel requirements, making adaptability crucial. Biopharmaceutical projects emphasize precision in every aspect of interior upfits, reflecting the critical nature of pharmaceutical facilities.
